We provide a fully managed service for schools, nurseries, alternative provision settings, and local authorities – improving attendance, behaviour, and engagement in learning to ensure that children are in school, ready to learn.
“Discovering the team at School-Home Support (SHS) has been a real revelation for us here at The New North Academy. This year we have welcomed two members of SHS to our busy and challenging school, and they are proving to be absolute assets and highly valued members of our school team. The skills and expertise they bring really enhance our offer and strengthen our work around safeguarding and working with families particularly.“
Nicola Percy, Head of New North Academy and Chair of Islington LSCB Education Committee
What is the SHS Practitioner service?
A highly trained school-based practitioner to build constructive relationships with the ‘hardest to reach’ families.
Tailored and specific work plan based on the needs of each school and developed in partnership with the school.
Regular evaluation reports providing evidence of the impact of the service.
Regular casework supervision to ensure practice is safe and boundaried and has a positive impact on the pupil’s attendance, behaviour and attainment.
SHS ownership of HR issues including recruitment, performance management and professional development of the practitioner.
Peer support and local networks to ensure best practice.
Access to the SHS Welfare Fund – used to provide essential items to vulnerable children and families. Items often include beds and bedding, a family washing machine, or school uniforms.
Opportunities to participate in Aspiration Sessions and Employment Skills Workshops – teaching children, young people, and parents about different careers and the various pathways into them.
