WE DID IT! Big Give Campaign Ends 2020

News article from December 8, 2020

We are incredibly pleased to announce we have reached our target for the School-Home Support Big Give Christmas Challenge 2020!  Together, we raised £26,525 (including Gift Aid)! Thanks to our supporters, School-Home Support (SHS) Practitioners will continue to support vulnerable families by raising aspirations, addressing barriers to education and ultimately breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty.

Across the UK, nine children in every class of thirty currently live in poverty. This is likely to affect their attendance, engagement with their learning, and behaviour. We know that missing out on basic needs means that vulnerable children miss out on vital days of education. Children without their own bed can be too tired to focus in class. Children without the correct school uniform do not feel part of the school community and may face bullying by their classmates. Children who go to bed hungry in the evening cannot focus on their learning if they are in desperate need of a meal.

We are grateful to the Children’s Trust and our other Big Give Christmas Challenge champions for their support. Thanks to your donations, some of the most vulnerable children and families in the country will receive vital support from SHS Practitioners to help keep their children safe and learning.

Our 2019/20 Impact Report is now available to view, illustrating how we have been able to help families during the pandemic, and our plan for 2020/21 and beyond.
