We’re very excited to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016, and we need your support to help us raise as much money as possible for disadvantaged children and families.
Every donation you make to SHS through the Big Give website between midday on 29th November and midday on 2nd December will be matched, meaning your donation goes twice as far!
The Big Give Christmas Challenge
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign. The 2016 Christmas Challenge launches at midday on Tuesday 29th November and closes at midday on Friday 2nd December. If you donate to SHS through The Big Give website during this period, your donation will be generously matched by our friends at The Pilgrim Trust. So every penny that you donate during this period will have twice the impact!
What are we raising for?
Money raised during The Big Give Christmas Challenge will go towards the SHS Welfare Fund, which provides basic items to families living in extreme poverty in times of desperate need.
Poverty stands in the way of education for so many of the families we work with. Far too often, SHS practitioners work with children who can’t attend school because there is no money available for the school bus, or their parents have to make the choice between putting food on the table or buying a pair of school shoes.
With match funding, we are aiming to raise £20,000 for the SHS Welfare Fund which provides basic items in times of desperate need to families living in extreme poverty. A donation of £15 could provide school shoes for a child whose family are unable to afford them. £100 could pay for a complete set of school uniforms and PE kit for a child. It is a vital tool for our practitioners, opening the door for them to work with children and families most in need of support.
How to help
For your donation to be matched, you must donate online via The Big Give Website between Midday on Tuesday 29th November and Midday on Friday 2nd December. Any donations made outside this period won’t be matched.
Of course, we would love for you to spread the word. If you have family, friends or colleagues who might be interested in our work with disadvantaged children and families please share this with them and let them know that their donation will be doubled!
