School-Home Support celebrates National Inclusion Week

News article from September 28, 2021

School-Home Support Chief Executive, Jaine Stannard says:

“At School-Home Support, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are central to our vision that ‘every child has the support they need to thrive and achieve’.

“We are committed to creating a diverse workforce that is representative of the communities we support, delivering inclusive and accessible services, and fostering a work culture where all our staff can thrive and reach their full potential. We have an EDI working group that meets monthly, who are responsible for driving forward improvements; I am proud of the work we’re doing in these areas embedding EDI principles across all strands of the organisation.

“Recent achievements include the introduction of mandatory EDI training for all new starters at SHS, as well as the provision of continuous learning and development EDI opportunities for all staff. We have been advocating for the adoption of gender pronouns in our internal and external communications and also been working hard to amplify the voices of underrepresented groups in our communications and ensure that all of our policies reflect EDI best practice. We will soon be appointing an EDI Champion with School-Home Support who people can contact confidentially to raise any concerns/issues they have and have just begun a recruitment campaign to encourage young people and those with lived experience to join our Board of Trustees.

“We are delighted to be celebrating National Inclusion week at School-Home Support and, in line with this year’s theme of ‘unity,’ we are encouraging all staff to take some time out of their week to catch up with a colleague over a cuppa as part of our #inclusivitea challenge.”
