School-Home Support announces new CEO

News article from March 16, 2017

This month, after twelve years of outstanding leadership, Jan Tallis stepped down from her role as School-Home Support’s Chief Executive. We have been very fortunate to have Jan to lead us over the years, and she will be very much missed from all of us at SHS.

She said, “I have had the good fortune to always enjoy my work but nothing touched me so deeply as the work of SHS and the last twelve years have been wonderful. When things felt like they were getting too much, as they occasionally did, a visit to or conversation with a practitioner always put me back on track, firing my determination to ensure that we would continue to provide such a necessary and effective service. I am so very proud of the work we do and what we achieve for children and families.

It has been a great pleasure to meet and work with some very wonderful people and partner organisations. Thank you for everything you do to help us support children and young people to be in school, ready to learn.”

Of course, this leaves us with the need for a new Chief Executive, to lead us through  future challenges and to help us achieve our goal of all children having the support they need to thrive. After impressing everyone in her role as Interim CEO (and prior to that, in her role working alongside Jan as Head of Services and Delivery and Safeguarding Lead for three years), Jaine Stannard has been offered, and accepted, the position of Chief Executive.

Richard Evans, Chair of Trustees, said, “Jaine exemplifies the passion and commitment to provide the best possible support and care for the young people we exist to serve and protect, and with over thirty years’ experience in community health and early intervention, is determined to ensure School-Home Support (SHS) always delivers a first class service. She also has a clear vision for how SHS can expand our support to schools, families and young people across the country. The trustees are united behind her leadership and look forward to the months and years ahead.”

We are sure you will join us in congratulating Jaine on her appointment. Here’s to an exciting new chapter at SHS!
