Case summary:

In August 2013 a female child H (aged 8) died whilst in the care of her mother.

The review details a number of key recommendations including:

“….instigate in maintained schools …., a review of the use of directly employed parenting support advisors (and other comparable roles such as pupil welfare co-ordinators) the aims of which would be to:

Clarify and define boundaries for the work of these valuable individuals
Recognise the need for and introduce minimum standards of management and reflective supervision
Offer ideas for the development of a supportive network of those fulfilling such roles ”
