Reindeer, Santa and Dame Barbara Windsor - lighting up Marylebone in aid of School-Home Support!

News article from December 14, 2017

On Wednesday 15th November, School-Home Support were lucky enough to be the beneficiary for the amazing Marylebone Christmas Lights switch-on event held by The Howard de Walden Estate.

Christmas spirit was certainly in the air as Marylebone High Street was lined with exciting looking (and smelling!) street stalls, a tombola, a collection of fairground rides, Santa’s grotto and reindeer. The highlight, of course, was the switch-on of the lights themselves by Marylebone resident and national treasure, the wonderful Dame Barbara Windsor.

She said, I am delighted to be part of this wonderful event being held in support of such a worthy cause. The work School Home Support does is vital to the lives of the many children it helps. It’s great to be highlighting such an incredible charity.”

A team from School-Home Support, including volunteers from Signature Litigation, Nomura and Barclays, braved the cold to collect donations from the public. Their enthusiasm and hard work helped School-Home Support raise over £8,000! The generous support of Marylebone’s residents will go a long way to help SHS continue our work with some of the capital’s most disadvantaged children.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this event happen in particular The Howard de Walden Estate, Dame Barbara Windsor and our marvellous volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you!
