News article from March 29, 2021
Over 300 vulnerable children in Bradford cracked smiles and were egg-static when they were gifted with an egg-cellent Easter surprise from School-Home Support.
Easter eggs were gifted by JCI Bradford to children at the following schools:
- Knowleswood Primary School
- One In a Million Free School
- Ryecroft Primary Academy
- St Columba’s Catholic Primary School
- Tong Academy.
Paddy Gallagher, Deputy Vice Principal at One In a Million Free School said: “The generous donation from JCI Bradford of over 300 easter eggs to School-Home Support practitioners in Bradford has meant that One In a Million has been able to provide easter gifts to over 60 families. This has put a smile on the children’s faces at a time when it is more needed than ever.”
JCI Bradford’s involvement
Michelle Pemberton, Appeal Coordinator at JCI Bradford said: “Although the appeal won’t fix poverty, it will spread a little bit of joy at what can be a difficult time for some children and families. The appeal has really caught the imagination and hearts of Bradford this year to create such an amazing amount of eggs for disadvantaged children. I am overwhelmed by the generosity and hard work each and every mini appeal and donor have put into the appeal to make its eighth year an egg-cellent record breaking one.”
Our work in Bradford
School-Home Support has been working with families in Bradford since May 2018. Our main work in Bradford is on the Holme Wood estate, one of Europe’s largest estates.
We are offering individually tailored practical and emotional support through our Practitioners. Our Practitioners are based in pre-school, primary and secondary schools – in and around the estate. We are working with families to tackle the root causes of issues at home that are affecting children’s learning – and ensuring we improve school attendance and parental engagement.
