Our fantastic corporate partner Liberum hosted an unforgettable Aspiration Session for children and their families
News article from August 2, 2022
Last week, students & parents from one of our partner schools attended Liberum offices to take part in an Aspiration Session. It was a fantastic morning filled with opportunities for the children & parents to learn about the working world and the importance of working hard to achieve your potential.
We heard from a number of different Liberum employees who had been at the firm for varying amounts of time, and in various job roles. This broad overview of the opportunities available within an Investment Bank inspired the children to think about their areas of interest, and how this may relate to certain job roles.
The office tour proved popular with many as we took in panoramic views of the city and the hustle and bustle of the trading floor. The year 5 students were even given the chance to take part in a trading game, giving them exposure to the excitement of the live markets. For those who may not have had the opportunity to experience this environment before, it was an incredible insight into an example of working life, and what they could aspire to. One student commented that it was the “best day of [the] week!”
If this wasn’t exciting enough, they were then asked to judge the Liberum employee Bake Off! After tasting a selection of baked goods and submitting their votes, a winner was announced. Congratulations Cara Murphy for the best ‘looking’ cake and Edward Mansfield for the best ‘tasting’ cake.
“I thought it was really good because we had cake and I know more things about trading!” – Year 5 student.
The Aspiration session was concluded with a visit to Liberum CEO Bidhi Bhoma’s office, where he spoke about the number of opportunities that are available to them, and how hard work is critical to achieving your goals.
The children and parents in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the session, with one mum commenting that it was ‘engaging and inspiring for kids, and for parents as well’. Another mum noted that the speakers at Liberum were all ‘real people with big dreams’
When one student was asked to provide a quote about the day, they said “It was fun, educational and yummy!”
We would like to say a huge thank you to Liberum for providing the children & parents with this opportunity. We hope that this valuable insight into the working world has left the children with big dreams themselves, and the knowledge that they can achieve anything they want if they put their mind to it.
