DIY SHS - Grafton Primary School Edition

While storm Eunice was creating havoc outside, employees from law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP were transforming Grafton Primary School’s library, creating a peaceful & calming space for children to read. The Weil team expertly transformed the library into a colourful reading hub filled with bean bags and new furniture.

The makeover team focused on creating an area that felt inviting, fun and engaging for the children, with plenty of space for books. Once the goal was established, the Weil employees designed drawings of the project while liaising with school staff to ensure the school’s priorities were central to the project delivery.

The initial phase of the makeover took place over two days in October half-term, and involved tidying, sanding, painting and lots of hands-on jobs! A lick of paint immediately transformed the space and made it a brighter and more inviting space.

One Weil employee commented, “It’s been great to get out of the office for a couple of days, and nice to give something back to our local community!”

The final stage of the DIY School-Home Support makeover took place over the February half term when the finishing touches were added. This included a large rug, lime green bean bags and a matching corner sofa to complete the look. In addition, a new desk was installed for the librarian, along with an office chair and shelves to clear more floor space for the children to use.

Chief Executive of School-Home Support, Jaine Stannard said: “The time, commitment, effort and care the Weil team put into this refurbishment was second to none. At every stage of the transformation, the team worked collaboratively with Grafton Primary School to provide a new and improved space for children to thrive in education. We’re incredibly proud and grateful for the fantastic partnership we have with Weil, and this project demonstrates their exceptional commitment to our work. On behalf of School-Home Support and the children of Grafton Primary School, thank you Weil.”

Deputy Headteacher of Grafton Primary School, Bea Symes, said: “Thank you so much to the Weil team for all their hard work in transforming our library. It looks fantastic and the children love it too. We really appreciate everything you’ve done for Grafton Primary School.”
