Black Lives Matter statement and resources

News article from June 23, 2020

At School-Home Support, we care deeply about ensuring our organisation is diverse and representative of the people we exist to help. These values are central to our vision that every child has the support they need to thrive and achieve. To progress further, we have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group, which has a dedicated project manager and consists of a wide range of people from across our charity. This group is extremely important to ensure that equality – including racial equality – is embedded in every aspect of our work.

The past few weeks have seen a huge surge in attention for the Black Lives Matter movement, which we wholeheartedly support. It is a time which has required listening, reflection, and action. Now, we see our role as one of support for schools and professionals working with children and young people. We have collected a list of tried and approved resources to share with our SHS staff and SHS Members, to ultimately support the schools, parents and children that you work with on this important and vital subject. This resource list is available on the SHS Forum.

If you have any feedback, further resources, or ideas to share with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We continue to push for justice in our society and will be focusing on how we can improve our practices further in our EDI working group.
