School-Home Support’s Corporate Partners help us reach our goals

News article from December 20, 2021

Throughout 2021, School-Home Support (SHS) has received generous support from our wonderful corporate partners. These partnerships help ensure our Practitioners are able to work with disadvantaged families to help their children access their education and engage in their learning.

In addition to this valuable financial support, our partners have gone the extra mile for our families this year by delivering books, teaching packs, art materials, computers and Christmas presents to our children at school.  Many individual employees have got involved by volunteering to work with the children, to motivate them to do their best at school and strive for their goals.

We are so grateful to our partners for everything they do, and a special thank you goes to Provident Financial for donating money to allow 152 children and their families to attend a Bradford City match. These tickets were distributed to our Practitioners in the Bradford area to be used as attendance prizes and encourage children to be in school and ready to learn. Getting the opportunity to attend Valley Parade and soak up the exciting atmosphere in the stadium has provided memories of a lifetime for the families we work with, and we simply couldn’t offer these opportunities without the support of our partners. Together, we make a winning team!

“Thank you so much to Provident for the generous donation to allow us to give the families and children we work with the opportunity to attend a football match live! It’s a really exciting trip for the children and provides an experience they may never have had access to. On behalf of the families attending the Bradford City matches and everyone here at School-Home Support, thank you Provident for this opportunity”

Over the past year, despite school closures and lockdowns disrupting our regular volunteering programme, London Stock Exchange staff remained committed to building connections and making a difference in the lives of vulnerable families.

As face-to-face sessions were not possible, we were able to adapt an Aspiration Session to an hour-long virtual session for Year 9 students in Barking & Dagenham. A group of four volunteers from the London Stock Exchange Group kindly took the time to talk to students about their own journeys into work, demonstrating the different roles and career paths available. Hearing about their experiences and learning more about the London Stock Exchange demonstrated to the students what they too could achieve.

And in September, a team of wonderful volunteers from Weil Gotshal & Manges rolled up their sleeves and spruced up the library at a primary school in North London. The team took time out of their busy schedules to design and re-decorate the library space at Grafton Primary School in Islington, and the transformation is fantastic. This DIY SHS  transformation will make the library a more comfortable space for children to engage with literacy, enabling them to thrive and achieve their best. The Weil employees had fun too, and commented on how it was great to be out of the office and giving back to their local community.

“It’s great to be part of the Grafton School library makeover, and we hope it has a positive impact on their education going forward” Andrew Wood, Facilities Manager

Thank you to all our partners – we couldn’t achieve our goals without you!
