Family Support Worker, Liverpool

Location: Outreach based working across a range of primary and secondary schools

Hours: 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £23,007 – £25,969 depending on experience

We have new exciting opportunities for you to join School-Home Support’s expansion across Liverpool and the surrounding areas, in partnership with Liverpool City Council.

We have 2 full time vacancies and 1 part time vacancy (3 days per week).

The main focus of this role will be on improving school attendance and engagement in learning. You will achieve this by building a bridge between school and home, including regular home visits and other forms of outreach work. You will work with the whole family to tackle issues which are causing poor school attendance and exclusions.

You will work closely with the Local Authority and Schools to deliver targeted casework and other activities to promote educational outcomes for disadvantaged children, young people and their families.

You will have good experience of working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn, strong abilities in engaging challenging children and their families, and a confident ability to form professional partnerships with children and their families.

You’ll have previous experience of:

  • providing expert pastoral support
  • working and engaging with parents, carers or guardians, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
  • working in an educational or outreach environment
  • working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
  • working with families from diverse communities
